On the other hand, the rear screen is often the better choice for shooting at waist level or above your head.

Casual street photography, where holding the camera away from your face can look less conspicuous.

Taking photos of Anna or friends because you're not hiding behind the camera can keep interacting with them.

Reviewing images and navigating menus.

For you specifically, I suspect you'll end up using the rear screen about 80 to 90% of the time.

You've come from an iPhone, so composing on a screen is already second nature,

and the RX100 IV's screen is very good.

Where I think you'll really appreciate the EVF is bright summer days, scenic landscapes,

telephoto shots, 70mm equivalent, where even tiny movements are magnified.

Low light situations where every bit of stability helps.

A little tip, on the RX100 IV, the EVF pops up from the top.

After pressing the release, remember to pull the eyepiece backwards until it clicks.

A surprising number of new owners don't realise there's a second step,

and the viewfinder won't work properly until it's fully extended.

My advice is simple, don't feel obliged to use the EVF, just be careful.
