I actually think that's a much better engineering way of doing things.

People often try to optimise away a 20-second manual step

and end up introducing hours of debugging.

I think you've stumbled onto something that a lot of engineers discover eventually.

Automation.

At least literally.

It's where dock can still be automated.

The same goes for your cabin.

Taking the SD card out isn't a failure of automation.

It's a very reliable import mechanism.

The same with the dash cam.

You discover that the Wi-Fi server works until it doesn't.

Whereas pulling out a micro SD card...
