two competing effects. With the windscreen on, it cushions the microphone a little, which

can sometimes reduce sharp taps. The fur itself can rub against the shirt fabric, creating

a soft scratching sound. It slightly attenuates the highest frequencies, which can make speech

sound a touch less crisp. With the windscreen off, speech is usually a little clearer and

brighter. There's no fur to brush against it. If the microphone body moves about, the

hard plastic grill can knock against the dirt, producing louder thumps. Given what I know

about your workflow, Whisper transcription rather than producing broadcast-quality audio,

I'd probably try without the furry windscreen first. Whisper is generally much more affected

by low-frequency rubbing noises than by the tiny amount of high-frequency attenuation

the windscreen introduces. A suggestion? Record three 30-second clips. One, windscreen

on. Two, windscreen off. Three, windscreen off, but with the microphone clipped so it's

held firmly against the pocket and can't swing around. Then listen with headphones. I suspect

you'll find option three gives the cleanest result.
