Please tell Grandma she's very welcome. 😊 And also tell her that I genuinely enjoyed working through it. She'd actually done most of the hard work already by gathering all the figures, checking the tariffs and making the spreadsheets. Sometimes when you've stared at something all day, it's difficult to step back and see the overall picture. I hope she enjoys the new solar setup—it looks like a really nice installation—and I suspect she'll get quite a lot of satisfaction from watching the battery charge and seeing those export payments come in over the next year! If anything changes (a different tariff appears, her usage changes, or she just wants another pair of eyes on it), I'm always happy to help.

I can maybe check in the morning

Do you think they have?

Or Makro has a lot

But might be expensive, but we can check

Before buying

Yes next to TLC

Because I need to see them forst

I've gone through all the numbers, and if it were my decision, I'd choose the zero-standing-charge tariff. The maths suggests the ~£235 a year you save by having no standing charge comfortably outweighs the roughly £70 a year you'd save from the EV tariff's cheaper overnight charging, and you still keep the excellent 18p export rate whichever import tariff you choose. Of course, none of us can predict exactly how much electricity you'll use or how sunny the next year will be, but based on everything we know today—your usage, 8,000 miles a year, the solar system and battery—I think this is the tariff that's most likely to leave you with the lowest overall bill. You've done a really thorough job of gathering all the information and thinking it through, and I genuinely think there's a clear winner here. Once you've switched, I'd put your mind at rest, stop second-guessing yourself and enjoy the fact that you've made a well-researched decision.

Here's the final advice that just came through:
