And: Overall I think it went well. It wasn't flawless, but it was solidly positive. Suzana's biggest advantage is how closely her current work at Shackleton matches what Irwin Mitchell is about to start: a marketing/martech transformation, Dynamics CRM, and joining up data across the client journey. When Tabitha described the "golden thread" idea (the transcript mishears it as "golden three"), Suzana could honestly say she's doing something very similar now. She's also a known quantity. Steve remembered her from the Smart Working Programme, and Tabitha greeted her as someone she'd met before. For a fixed-term role that needs someone productive quickly, both of those count for a lot. Her own comment at the very end, "Finally, a good interview," suggests she felt the same. Question by question Knowing when analysis is "enough." A strong, well-structured answer. She would start with objectives and outcomes rather than jumping into process mapping, get stakeholders aligned on scope, bring out constraints, assumptions and risks, agree exit criteria, and give executives options and recommendations. That's exactly what a senior BA should say. Challenging a stakeholder's preferred solution. Probably her best answer. It was a real, recent and relevant example with a concrete result. She found cost, integration and overlapping-CRM problems the business hadn't considered, and the tool was paused so proper analysis could happen. Steve replied "That's great." Her framing, testing the preferred solution rather than blocking it, also showed good judgement. A late requirement four weeks before go-live. A solid, standard answer: understand the reason, assess the impact, involve the tech team, present the trade-offs, and let the business decide, escalating to the sponsor if needed. Tabitha called it "a very good example," which is a good sign. The micromanaging, mind-changing senior stakeholder. Her weakest answer. Building trust one-to-one and running workshops well are sensible points, but the answer stayed general and had no real example. It also didn't directly deal with two of the problems Steve named: bypassing governance and changing priorities every week. A stronger answer would have mentioned things like change control, a decision log, and agreeing roles and decision rights with the sponsor. Tabitha's "Thank you that's fine" was fairly neutral. The first 30 days. The content was good. Her questions about whether they're replacing or optimising systems, leads versus clients, and a combined view of the customer showed she'd thought about their programme specifically, which interviewers notice. The answer did ramble, though. When Tabitha asked a follow-up (whether she'd been in that situation for real), Suzana gave a very relevant example: the current-state operating model she built and how the BI team reacted to it. That rescued things nicely. Why leave Shackleton? This was the messiest answer. The good parts: she said nothing negative about her employer, she spoke warmly about Irwin Mitchell, and she gave sensible reasons (wanting to be back in a BA team for career development, and the location). The risky part: she said she hadn't realised it was a one-year contract and brought up tenure straight away. That was honest, but it could suggest she hadn't read the advert closely, or that she might hesitate over a fixed-term offer. Tabitha then spent a good while explaining how the role could become permanent, which suggests they want to keep her interested. Suzana later repeated that a longer term would be "a lot more favourable," so the concern is clearly on record. Her questions. Good ones: replace or optimise, where the role adds most value, and whether workstreams exist yet. Tabitha answered openly and at length, which usually means the conversation felt collaborative. Delivery On paper there's a lot of filler ("I mean," "kind of," "sorry," "I guess"), plenty of restarting sentences, and twice she ended with "I hope that answers the question" or "so that answers the question." Spoken answers always look messier when transcribed, so don't read too much into it. Still, several answers ran long, and Tabitha said near the end that time was nearly up. Shorter answers ending on a clear result would sound more confident. The close Tabitha's ending ("lovely to meet you and see you again," "we'll give our feedback," "a few more people to meet") was warm but gave nothing away, which is normal. It also sounds like there won't be another round, so this was probably the final stage.
